The Torso of Perseus is a reproduction in Carrara marble inspired by the famous bronze sculpture by Benvenuto Cellini, created between 1545 and 1554 and considered one of the most famous statues in Florence.
This statue represents a part of the hero’s figure, capturing his heroic essence and the physical perfection typical of classical representations. Greek art, with its idealized forms and the cult of heroism, finds in this reproduction a perfect expression of its style and philosophy.
The figure of Perseus has been a much-loved subject in classical art: numerous sculptures and frescoes depict him in various poses and moments of his life. Perseus is mainly remembered for killing the Gorgon Medusa, saving Andromeda from a sea monster, who later became his wife, and for being king of Tiryns.
According to myth, he gave up the throne of Argos in favor of Megapenthes and founded the city of Mycenae, one of the most important civilizations of the ancient Greek world.
From his wife Andromeda, he had many children, including Electryon, his heir and grandfather of Heracles, and Gorgophone, mother of Icarius and grandmother of Penelope, wife of Odysseus.
To keep the Torso of Perseus always shining, it is recommended to clean it regularly with a soft, dry cloth.
If necessary, use a slightly damp cloth with warm water, drying the sculpture thoroughly immediately after cleaning to prevent stains or halos.
Avoid using harsh chemicals that could damage the finish.

The statue is fab, but I was told it would be 3 wks the manufacture and 5 days to deliver. In the end it took way longer, 2 months of which 2 weeks were getting it out of Italy, Gatwick to me was approx 12 hours, amazing
I am pleased with my hand-carved Carrara marble Perseus torso. The craftsmanship is, to my eye, exceptional and it is now the envy of the gays in my book club. The quality met my expectations, and was worth waiting for. Delivery took exactly as long as I would expect for a piece carved by hand, and throughout the process customer service kept me updated on Perseus’s progress. I enjoyed the correspondence as much as the anticipation of his arrival. Highly recommended.
