Tile - "Cave Canem" cm 15x15 in Botticino marble

Museum-shop's production.

Floor mosaic "Cave Canem" : the image was found in Pompeii's House of the Tragic Poet; this is probably the first  documented "Beware the dog" sign in history.

 

from "Satyricon" (26-66 AC):

"..... Trimalchio; who at they went on, kept close to his ear with a flagellet as if he had whispered him, and made him musick all the way.
