The 3D reproduction of the Riace Bronzes is a detailed replica of one of the most famous statues of classical Greece. The original statues, which portray two warriors, were made of bronze and probably originally placed on the Acropolis of Athens. Today, they are exhibited at the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria.

Historical Curiosities

The Riace Bronzes, discovered in 1972 off the coast of Calabria, are two bronze statues dating back to the 5th century BC, considered among the best examples of classical Greek sculpture. The warriors are known for their expressiveness and realistic detail of their bodies, representing the Greek ideal of strength and beauty.

The reconstruction of the colors and weapons was carried out experimentally in 2015 to show how they should have originally appeared. Like the marble ones, the bronze statues were in fact polychrome.
