Description

Plate in Terracotta with the relief of the Goddess of Victory taken from the decoration of the Trajan's Column 110 – 113 AD. C., Roma.

The Trajan's column, was erected to celebrate the victory of the emperor Trajan against the Dacians. It is to be considered the first "coclid column" ever built. Inside we can find a spiral staircase, the cochlea. The engraving on the column reports the events of the war and is made up of 33 sculpted and assembled marble drums. The ornament features the engraving of 150 war episodes and is more than 200 meters high.

The plate represents the rhetorical figure of the Winged Nike who writes the Res Gestae on a shield and marks the end of the first war on Dacia.
