Description

Strozzi table, reproduction of the famous oil on canvas 15th century, Museum of San Martino, Naples, probably attributable to the painter Francesco Rosselli.

The painting takes the name of Tavola Strozzi because it was found at the Palazzo Strozzi in Florence and reproduces the historical reconstruction of the Aragonese fleet which returned victorious in the port of Naples against the pretender to the throne Giovanni D'Angiò of 1465. The painting has an especially historical value more than pictorial as it can be considered the first "portrait" of the city.

The view of the Naples medieval can in fact be seen with a useful work in the reconstruction of the city planning of the Neapolitan city. Bright colors and a point of view that seems to come directly from the sea are the characteristics of this work.
