Description

Leonine protome earrings of Capua and Herculaneum. Playback in Silver 925 18K GOLD plated from the original exhibit cat. n° 6434 AB of the Superintendence of Taranto. Inspired by the earrings from S. Maria Capua Vetere Inv. 24870, 24871 from the II half of the IV - beginning of the III century. and. C.

The earrings , called cornucopia due to their shape, are decorated with lion protomes. The images carved into jewels always referred to subjects considered amulets. In fact, the lion was the emblem of strength, royalty, courage and pride.
