The Fresco of the Diver of Paestum is a unique example of Greek funerary art. It represents a young man who dives into the water, symbolizing the passage from earthly to otherworldly existence. The scene, very rare in Greek art, expresses a philosophical vision of death as a journey beyond life. The fresco is considered a precious testimony of Greek painting, in a funerary context.
