This work is a reproduction of the original Greek statue of Hermes and Dionysius dating back to 330 BC. and today kept in the Archaeological Museum of Olympia.
The bronze head of Hermes faithfully represents the Greek divinity, known as the messenger of the gods and the god of trade. In Roman mythology the correspondent of Hermes is Mercury.

Historical Curiosities
Hermes, in Greek mythology, was the god of messengers, travelers, trade and thieves. He is known for his speed, wearing winged sandals that allowed him to move quickly between the worlds of gods and men. He was a psychopomp, that is, he who guided the souls of the deceased into the afterlife. Furthermore, Hermes was considered the inventor of language and writing, and according to myth, it was he who created the first lyre using a tortoise shell.
