This fascinating sculpture oftête pays homage to the abstract forms created byAmedeo Modigliani (Italian, 1884-1920). In 1909, after meeting Constantin Brancusi (French, born in Romania, 1876–1957), Modigliani began sculpting stylized heads and elongated in stone, producing around 25 works. His sculptures, like his painted portraits, draw inspiration from African art, the ancient Cyclades, and Sumerian, Egyptian, and Greek art.
