Historical Curiosities 

The fresco depicting the Diver was discovered in 1968 in a tomb in Paestum. 

This tomb is an artefact of the funeral art of Magna Graecia of significant historical-artistic value, the only evidence of painting Greek figurative and non-vascular. The walls of the building and the covering slab itself are entirely plastered and decorated with wall painting of a figurative subject, created with the fresco technique. The image of the diver constitutes the internal decoration of the covering slab.

The man in the act of diving into a stream probably represents the metaphor of the passage from life to death.
