Description

Crew neck and short sleeve T-Shirt with Hadrianus & Antinous printed, 100% cotton.

Emperor Hadrian was very attentive and sensitive to literature and the arts, much more "cultured" than the others to the Roman emperor. In particular he had a great love for culture and civilization Greek which manifested in many ways. For example by granting particular privileges to the inhabitants of Athens and greatly enriching it with great architectural works, adopting behaviors typical of Greek culture. In the "Greek" way he lived his great love for Antinoo a beautiful young Greek from Bithynia. When Antinous died by drowning in the Nile, Hadrian founded a city, Antinopolis, in his honor. While Alexander the Great limited himself to promoting the cult of his lover Hephaestion as a hero, Hadrian raised Antinous to the rank of divinity, promoting his cult. And he wrote:

Sweet little soul traveling,
Guests and companions of the body
Now you will go to places
Pale, stiff, bare,
Nor, as usual, will you give jokes…

Wandering little soul, graceful,
host and companion of the body.
What places will you go to now
You pale, cold and naked?
And you will no longer give joy, as you usually do…

Perfect t-shirt for those who love ancient Roman culture!
